Should I be taking creatine and whey powder?

Hey guys, I just recently started working out again after a year off. Originally I was at around 230 pounds and I got down to 205 and now I want to get down to about 190ish. I was just wondering if I should take creatine and Whey Protein. I took whey when I dropped from 230 to 205 and my friend told me to take the two supplements to increase muscle. But I’m already a pretty strong guy, and right now I more focused on just losing the weight. Should I continue taking creatine and whey powder or if I should stay off of it and just try to lose the weight. Im mostly worried about water retention and stuff like that.

Well creatine cause water bloating.So itll add some weight but once you stop taking itll go away.
