How much Creatine should I taking to supplement my body?
I am a regular gym goer(3-4 times a week). Recently, I have become Vegetarian(Body needs creatine and meat being only natural source of creatine). I have decided to maintain my protein intake through supplements. I have decided to purchased following products:
1. 100% Whey Gold Standard
2. 100% Casein Proteiin
3. Fish Oils
4. Animal Pak(Multi-Vitamins)
5. N.O Xplode
I don’t know about the amount of Creatine on Xplode, Can you guys suggest me how much should be taking? Should I not buy xplode and buy creatine powder only? Thanks for you suggestion.
By the way, I am 5’7″ and 170 lbs.
i like to take around 5 grams of creatine per day. I use Dymatize Creatine and Whey Protein from http://www.buybulkwhey.com I like the products as they are natural and do not conatinm any of the nasty fillers.
Taking Creatine When Working Out
Creatine is a nitrogenous acid, which is produced naturally in the body by the liver and kidneys, from the amino acids L-Arginine, Glycine and L-Methionine. Its primary role is to deliver short term energy bursts to straining skeletal muscle cells during periods of effort. Since creatine occurs naturally in the body, its use is generally not regulated by sporting authorities, and it has been deemed safe to use. In addition to being naturally produced, it is possible to supplement creatine through dietary sources. Meat, such as beef, pork or fish are usually good sources, however the most concentrated sources can be found in offal, such as liver or kidneys.
There are several advantages for bodybuilders and other athletes to take creatine when working out. The primary reason is for strength development, as creatine allows the muscle to contract further, and for longer than they normally would. This develops strength, which in turn allows for even greater weight and resistance. Of particular interest to bodybuilders is the fact that creatine promotes intra-cellular water retention; this means that skeletal muscle cells actually become bigger by storing water inside them, rather than in between the cells, which would lead to bloating. Creatine actually makes muscles bigger, rather than just appearing so.
Taking Creatine Supplements, as opposed to getting creatine exclusively through dietary sources has several advantages, the first of which is that it is much healthier. Rich in creatine, kidneys and liver are also actually quite rich in fat and cholesterol. To get the creatine concentration available in supplements directly from dietary sources would require a dangerously unbalanced and fatty diet. Elevated levels of creatine have also been proven to have a positive influence on cognitive function and memory retention. This can be of particular interest to vegans and vegetarians, who may not get enough creatine through dietary sources and may benefit from supplementation. Moreover, taking creatine supplements lets one control exactly what he is ingesting, rather than relying on approximations.
When thinking of creatine, many people think exclusively of bodybuilding. But bodybuilders are certainly not the only ones who can benefit from the beneficial effects of creatine; athletes of all stripes, including endurance athletes can benefit from the increases short term energy boosts that creatine provides. While creatine is appreciated by bodybuilders from an aesthetic point of view as well as for strength, increased strength is something that all athletes should strive for, as a means to an end as it can be used to increase the intensity and potency of workouts.
Creatine has been proven to be completely safe to use, and is sold over the counter. While no direct link has been proven, it is however recommended that those suffering from liver disease or kidney deficiencies to err on the side of caution and avoid creatine. Like with any other supplement, it is recommended that your consult a health care professional before starting on a creatine regimen, if only to ensure that the dosage you are considering is appropriate for your physical condition.
