Brief Isagenix Review From Non-Affiliated Viewpoint
Isagenix is advertised as a company that wants to impact world health, according to their website. Overall nutrition, skin care and cleansing are the three product divisions that Isagenix offers.
One of their products, Cleanse For Life, one of Isagenix’s most popular products, is sold as a Weight Loss helper and claims to provide increased general health and energy levels. This product comes in packs of two 32 oz bottles, which is to last for two days of cleansing. This Cleans For Life product seems to be the mainstay of their 30 day complete cleansing routine. Their nine date accelerated program of cleansing also uses the Cleanse For Life and promises seven pounds of weight loss in that time. There are a lot of meal replacement options shown in their product line as well.
You can get any of the products directly from the Isagenix website, or from any one of a network of independent retailers. The Isagenix marketing model is very much like that of Avon’s.
The company website provides complete ingredient lists for all of its products. But I’m not 100% ready to buy into the idea of a complete system with numerous products, potions and pills as the best weight loss method. Surely most people can find success via a low calorie diet, daily exercise and a single, effective weight loss supplement, or even no weight-loss products at all. I don’t like to think just how many people are taking some sort of weight loss product without being concerned with or aware of the possible effects, simply because they want to look better.
The listed ingredients for the Cleanse for Life product are Pau d’Arco inner bark, Aloe Vera leaf, suma root, IsaLyte trace minerals, eleutherococcus senticosus root extract, fennel seed, burdock root, peppermint leaf, licorice root, choline bitartrate, inositol, betain HCL and I-methionine. Sometimes I get the concept that some of these companies just put stuff in their products with unusual names so that people don’t have any idea what it does, or what it is supposed to do. As a kid I had hordes of Burdock growing around my mother’s house. Never would have thought of it as a weight-loss or cleansing product. And I don’t know what any of this stuff is apart from aloe vera and peppermint. And if anyone comes at me with choline bitartrate they are going to get it!
There isn’t anything on this list that stands out as an established, effective supplement for losing weight. Though many of the items may be absolutely healthy in other ways, It could be more effective to have a proven Fat Burner and appetite suppressant on the list for maximum weight loss. Recognized weight loss ingredients are noticeably absent from the above list.
I can go on all day and night about the products because there are numerous to be looked at.
Initially I began to review Isagenix in terms of someone’s ability to build a good income as an independent retailer. I had a lot of trouble tracking down any solid numbers being provided by anyone out there who is in fact doing very well with the program.
Isagenix pays it’s retailers with a binary compensation plan. This is perhaps my least preferred of all network marketing compensation plans. I have never liked the idea of getting paid just on the smaller leg. It does force each individual balance their downline but it also gives a relatively small percentage of revenue being paid out. In this situation the company is only paying out on less than half of it’s volume right off the bat. The Isagenix website specifies an average profit margin around 30%. So what one is really looking at in terms of income potential is having to sell tons and tons of product and recruit massively to even make any recruiting efforts worthwhile.
With a binary matrix you are just dealing with two legs underneath you. Each person has only two. One will always be larger. And you have to feed the new people you sponsor into the smaller leg because you are only getting commission on your lesser leg so you have to keep it balanced. I can be hard to manage whom you are placing where in your downline and may make it hard to predict the future production. To break it down simply, you are getting just a few dollars each month, for every person, within the lesser leg.
For me, as a business opportunity, Isagenix is best suited for individuals who who use the products because they have gotten good physical results with them, or know others who have, and so they have a strong belief in the value of the products more so than dry greed and interest in just making money, and many folks certainly will become retailers simply get the discounted wholesale prices on these products and if they can sell some additional product here and there through word of mouth, well, that’s not going to hurt anything at all. But just evaluating it in terms of sheer income potential it doesn’t look to be very strong.
This is not to say that it is not viable or worthy of one’s time. I have known people who’ve been taking and selling Shackley products for many years, and they may only make a few thousand or even a few hundred extra dollars per year doing it but they are happy with that. Also, for some people such a business is their social life. It’s a very social type of work.
It seems to me, a product line like this one could be very applicable to a retail store-front. If you’ve got a substantial local population interested in health and wellness, or if you have your own health food or grocery store then this could be a great way to market these products, as opposed to the traditional method of word of mouth. Obviously, this would be almost entirely a retail sales strategy than a recruitment strategy.
I’ve never been involved with Isagenix and I have also never used the products.
I just wanted to take a peek at the company and to make more sense out of the business opportunity side of this company from an unaffiliated party standpoint.
