Is it important that women get Amino Acids when they don’t get any?

We’re on a really tight budget but her (age 45) health means alot. She definitely doesn’t get any or extremely little from meals. Is it vital she takes amino acids?

BQ: Do you know how much of the supplement actually absorbs? Is it 100% or only a fraction like multivitamins? (If you answer it depends if you split them up say how much %ish if not, and most importantly how much absorbs if you DO)

2BQ: Is BCAA (Branched Chain Amino Acids) good enough? vs an amino acid supplement?

Just sticking to a healthy balanced diet should provide all the amino acids and nutrition she needs. If a deficiency is suspected, best to check with a doctor.

Branch Chain Amino Acid: a review

Amino Acids are at the heart of building muscle protein, which is necessary for maintaining strong muscle mass while undergoing strenuous exercise regimes. Without a continuing, healthy supply of amino acids the muscle would lose in both strength and mass rendering most training in bodybuilding ineffectual. In everyday situations, the body produces all the amino acids it needs and draws from diet to produce energy. But serious exercising requires a lot more.

Amino Acids are basically divided into two groups:

Non-Essential Amino Acids

Essential Amino Acids

Non-Essential Amino Acids are in fact essential to the body – the term is misleading in that regard. Non-essential amino acids help the body recover from trauma or illness and maintain a healthy metabolism. The body produces an adequate supply of these amino acids for normal activity. There are 13 non-essential amino acids including glutamine, alanine, glycine and proline. The body produces these amino acids by itself and with the help of vitamins.

Essential Amino Acids are produced by the body during digestion, through the breakdown of certain foods. There are nine essential amino acids including histidine, leucine and valine. It is the essential amino acids that are addressed through food supplements, important to the bodybuilder’s workouts.

Branched Chain Amino Acids

Essential Branched Chain Amino Acids are especially important to bodybuilders because they fuel the muscle with energy directly. All amino acids are essential to keeping the muscle fuelled, but the BCAA work a bit faster than the others as they go directly into the bloodstream. Protein is digested and becomes individual amino acids. Those amino acids are then either stored to build new proteins later or used as energy – like an instant fuel. Bodybuilders depend on BCAA to break down into instant fuel to keep the amino acid supply up during rigorous workouts and training sessions. Without instant refuelling by amino acids a serious workout could result in little to no progress.

The benefits of BCAA include the stimulation of protein synthesis for providing instant energy to the muscle during strenuous exercise, enhanced endurance during strenuous exercise, faster recovery of amino acid supply to the muscle, the burning of excess fat, boosting the immune system.

BCAA are found naturally in whey and egg proteins and BCAA food supplements.

What are the side effects for the BCAA FUEL supplement?

i just got a bottle and im 14 years old
its a twinlab BCAA FUEL anabolic/anti catabolic amino acids thing
what are the side effects going to be?
good and bad..?

no side effect whatsoever it! they are branch Chain Amino Acids which is what food is converted to for the body to use after your body processes it. Nothing to worry about.

What the hell you doing buying BCAAS at 14 anyways? I rarely buy that stuff cause I would rather see you buying real food in the long run! Don’t forget its suppose to supplement a GOOD diet rich in REAL food! If you don’t have that part locked down it’s a waste of money.

If anything I’d be only using some Whey Protein and some carbs like maltodextrin, waxy maize, dextrose for supplements for before and after a workout or when in a quick hurry.

Amino Acids like Xtend – The Bodybuilders Natural Medicine Cabinet!

Amino Acids are one of essential acids our body requires in order survive. Put simply, they help make up the proteins which are essential for our bodies. Protein substances are vital within our bodies as they help to make up our muscles, ligaments, tendons, organs, glands, nails, hair and help our bones to grow. They also form the basis of our immune system which helps to keep us alive. In short, they are an extremely important part of our body. However, this form of protein cannot be obtained by simply eating protein rich foods. When we ingest protein, our body will break down the protein and convert this into amino acids which are then used in order to build the proteins it requires. Amino Acids are not proteins, but actually what are used to build the protein structures. For the bodybuilder, they are essential to growth, but protein is not equal to amino acids. Similar to creatine, it’s not the same to get 3g of creatine from eating meat as it is to take it as a supplement. The supplement seems to be much more potent. Amino Acids as peptides can really boost muscle growth and targeted free form amino acids can enhance metabolic effects.

Amino acids are not only vital in order to create necessary proteins, but also to aid with a variety of metabolic functions within the body. These include helping with the process which sends messages from our nerves, and allows necessary vitamins and minerals to do what they are intended for, rather than be simply absorbed by the body and disregarded. Singular amino acids can do everything from act as a brain neurotransmitter to help you sleep to Increase Muscle Mass. For example, L-Tryptophan may help to relax a person and ease things like ADHD and OCD, while L-Tyrosine may be a precursor to dopamine and increase mental focus and acuity. Beta Alanine buffers lactic acid, causing athletes to reduce muscle soreness and prevent fatigue while Citrulline has been shown to help people’s endurance when injured or sick. Amino acids such as Carnitine may help burn fat and increase mental acuity along with increasing energy output. Amino acids are truly natures natural prescription drugs, doing controlling all sorts of bodily functions.

It is important to be aware that amino acids are found in two different types: non-essential amino acids which are produced in the liver and account for around 80% of all the amino acids our bodies require; and essential amino acids which cannot be made within the body and so must be taken into the body via our diet. However, the need for amino acids within our body is great and in the event that you produce an insufficient supply of just one of the many amino acids within the body, you could experience some severe issues regarding your health such as stunted growth and depression. The causes for the decrease in amino acids within the body can stem from a number of factors. Dieting can lead to a lack of essential amino acids as we deprive ourselves of certain foods in a bid to Lose Weight. Those who follow a vegetarian or even a vegan diet are most vulnerable to facing issues as a result of a lack of amino acids. However, other, more faultless issues can cause this issue such as stress; trauma and age are all major factors.

However, in the event that you experience issues with your intake of amino acids, there is the added benefit of amino acid supplements. These supplements work by counteracting the deficiency within the body and help eliminate the issue of needing to ingest a large amount of protein through your diet, which can be extremely unhealthy. Amino acid supplements come in two forms- D form and L form. Proteins which can be found within animal and plant tissues are within the L-form and are most compatible with human biochemistry and so it is often best to begin taking these supplements. When replacing your lost amino acids with supplements, it is advantageous to take a balanced combination of both essential and non-essential amino acids in the form of a multi nutrient supplement. This way you can be sure that the dose of the acids is safe and at a level which will provide you with some benefit. In some cases, individuals may require to take only a single amino acid supplement in order to treat some form of disorder. In this case, it is imperative to not take this supplement for longer than stated by your Doctor and a single amino acid treatment must only be followed after a deficiency has been diagnosed previously.

An amino acid deficiency can cause a multitude of health issues, but with the use of amino acid supplements, this is no longer an issue. Just as those with heart problems can easily follow a planned diet to help with their issues; those who suffer from amino acid deficiency can still gain the benefits their body needs in order to be healthy and strong.

Be aware, not all amino acid supplements are the same. Many unscrupulous companies sell protein and label them as amino acids. Hydrolyzed proteins are better because they break the amino acids into smaller fractions called peptides, but these are still not the same as singular amino acids (called free form) and don’t have the same drug like qualities. Hydrolyzed proteins are great for working out and quick recovery, but they don’t have the same metabolic effects as buying s singular amino acid at your local vitamin store. Researching the desired effect of amino acids is as easy as typing them into google. Life extension is a very good source of information on amino acid therapy and the also carry a lot of amino acid products.

Preworkout product may also contain amino acids, which makes them an available source of amino’s to build new muscle. Popular amino acids like Beta Alanine can be found in the most potent formula’s on the market. Anadraulic State GT, a leading preworkout supplement, for example has a variety of free form amino acids and hydrolyzed peptides from whey, giving it a very potent one two punch. Other formula’s like NoXplode from BSN have singular amino acids that are more targeted. Both seem to have plenty of benefit for the gym rat, but the inclusion of hydrolyzed amino acids and free form, seems to offer the best punch.

In intra-workout (supplement while working out) market two products have emerged as leaders in this arena and have slightly different ratios. Xtend from Scivation is an BCAA or branched chain amino acid powdered drink that had a 2:1:1 ratio of leucine to isoleucine to valine. Studies show that you need all three of these amino acid formula’s to get the benefit of Leucine’s anabolic effect. BC+EAA from LG Science uses a blend of 10:1:1 leucine to isoleucine to valine, giving it potentially more anabolic action. It also contains a healthy dose of hydrolyzed amino acid peptides, covering both bases and giving the bodybuilder the edge in muscle growth and repair. As stated earlier each form, free form and hydrolyzed peptides have their benefits and a mixture of the two is very interesting. Both products are similar that they have a good 2g dose of Glutamine, while Xtend also contains Citrulline Malate, which may help with endurance. Both products are really tasty and come in multiple flavors, so that part is a toss up. This represents the best of the amino acid supplements for bodybuilders and performance athletes and both are available for a very good price online.

amino acids? protein? Casein?

im curently at 230 pounds and im trying to get to 205 but with muscle mass. im taking around 100 to 150 grams of protein and bcaa 1800 daily but im courious if this is enough. and i also heard about casein and that its better for you if u drink it before u go to sleep.

You basically answered the question yourself. 150 g of protein is plenty and you’re right about the casein before bed. I’m assuming the 1800 mg of bcaa is one serving. Just make sure you take one serving before each workout.

2 Nutrition Periods for an Amazingly Fast Muscle Mass Development

Weight training and nutrition are without a doubt the two mandatory components of developing a healthy muscular physique. If you’re unable to give the utmost attention to both components, you may as well quit wasting your time and bid adios to your muscle gains.

Now when it comes to the subject of nutrition for muscle mass development, I believe that many people are aware of the basics like consuming adequate amount of calories, eat plenty of rich protein foods, proper consumption of low glycemic carbohydrates and healthy fats among other things.

That being said, I find that the vast majority of people are unaware of 2 absolutely essential periods for feeding the body with muscle building meals or supplements.

These 2 periods must be capitalized by anyone who is interested in boosting their muscle mass development to greater heights in a relatively short period of time.

Note: Check out Weight Gain Muscle Building for more FREE muscle development tips, tactics and get a 21 page downlodable muscle experiment report as well.

1. Post-Workout Nutrition – Fuelling your body with muscle gaining nutrients is a must especially after an intense iron blasting workout.

I used to play down this highly important timeframe back when I first started lifting weights, and boy, did I sold myself short!

A highly intense weight training session will most definitely put your body in a state of extreme stress and this elevates your muscles ability to absorb much more nutrients than usual.

What should one consume during post-workout? Well, a serving or two of rapid absorbing protein source such as whey (mixed in plain water) would be best, along with a serving of simple sugar like corn sugar.

Whey is commonly known as the king of protein due to its vast amount of BCAA (Branched Chain Amino Acids), an extremely critical component for increasing mass, and further more, this protein source can be quickly absorbed by your muscles thus increasing the rate of protein synthesis within the body.

As for simple sugar, they are required in order to trigger a massive insulin-spike in your body. Is insulin spike necessary in connection to muscle growth?

You bet it is! By increasing your insulin rapidly, every ounce of Whey Protein that you’ve consumed will be pushed right into your muscle cells at an extremely quick rate, resulting in faster and better gains.

2. Pre-Bedtime Nutrition – The cardinal rule of bodybuilding is that your body must be continually fed with muscle building nutrients every 3 to 4 hours.

Failure to do so will greatly decrease your chances of increasing muscular size and strength, and this is an outright fact.

So how are you going to feed your body with the necessary nutrients every few hours when you’re going to wound up sleeping for 8 hours straight by the end the day?

Well, here’s where pre-bedtime comes into the picture. In order to minimize muscle breakdown during sleep, it is imperative that you prepped your body with slow-release meals that are loaded with essential nutrients for repairing and rebuilding muscle tissues before calling it a night.

Milk and cottage cheese are two excellent slow-released muscle building foods. If you have the budget, get a tub of high quality whey protein.

Although very fast acting, you can actually turn whey into a time-released protein by combining it together with a glass of milk. Don’t go overboard when preparing a pre-bedtime meal, otherwise you might have trouble sleeping and may end gaining additional bodyfat as well.

A glass of milk mixed with whey along with a small bowl of oatmeal, or a piece of whole wheat toast will set you on the right path to a fast muscle development even when you’re fast asleep!
